When you are eating mostly fruits and vegetables you will notice that you really are not very thirsty at all most of the time. This is especially true if you have eliminated all condiments from your diet, as is recommended.

Most fruits and vegetables have a very high water content (except for dried fruits) and the water that is in this food is exactly what your body needs.

If you still feel thirsty drink distilled water. The 'minerals' in most bottled waters are in an inorganic form and can not be metabolized by the body. The body just tries to eliminate them.

Do not drink anything with your meals. If you feel thirsty drink 15 minutes before you eat. If you drink with your meal the liquid will dilute the enzymes required for digestion and hinder the digestive process.

  • 30 minutes after eating fruits

  • 2 hours after eating starches

  • 4 hours after eating proteins

before you drink something

Fresh squeezed fruit juices are wonderful drinks but they are meals and not just beverages. Drink them instead of eating a meal not just to satisfy your thirst.

If you like a hot drink during the cold winter months try some hot water with fresh squeezed lemon juice.
